MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS...
... are held the fourth Tuesday of most months at the United Methodist Church, 7400 Pioneer Way, near downtown Gig Harbor. Social hour at 5:30pm; business meeting at 6pm; art demo / program at 7pm. (Note: Please don't park in the "Visitor" spots in the parking lot.)
April 25 -- Program: Melissa Weinman will give a demo on the principle of painting translucence.
May 23 -- Program: PAL members who've taken workshops through PAL scholarships will do a show-and-tell about what they learned (and created) in the workshops. Myrna Binion, Elaine Schurer and others will present. This is also a screening month for new members and members working in a new medium. Download Screening Guidelines from the Miscellaneous Forms page.
June 27 -- Program: Tacoma artist Mark Hopperman will present a demo on a to-be-determined topic.
Monthly Featured Artists -- At every general meeting, we have a display of work by three of our members. Each Featured Artist brings a few pieces of their work and is available to chat during the social hour. This gives us a chance to get to know one another better as artists and to show off our latest creations. Contact Terry Shovlowski at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to display your work at a meeting.
Our first workshop of 2017 takes place April 22 & 23 with a Travel Journal Sketchbook workshop led by Darsie Beck. Mr. Beck is a member of the Urban Sketchers group and has taught workshops throughout the Northwest. This workshop is sold out. Contact Myrna Binion to be put on a waiting list.
August 25, 26 & 27 we'll present a Figure Drawing Skills for Painters & Sketchers workshop with Michael Stasinos. Mr. Stasinos is an associate professor of art and design at PLU and will serve as our juror for our annual Open Juried Show. For details visit our Workshops/Classes page.
October 3 & 4 we'll have a special workshop with Australian watercolor artist and urban sketcher Jane Blundell. Ms. Blundell is teaching workshops in the US this fall and she'll stop in Gig Harbor to lead this workshop (between presentations in Seattle and Portland). For details, visit our Workshops/Classes page.
